Pedro Castillo, Peru's former president, is now facing trial for charges of rebellion and corruption. Despite being detained for over two years, Castillo maintains that he is the rightful leader of the country. His arrest followed an attempt to dissolve Congress and rule by decree, which led to widespread protests and political instability.
