Palestinians are breaking their fast after marking the first day of Ramadan—in the midst of rubble and destruction in Rafah, southern Gaza. Before Israel launched its war on Gaza, Ramadan was a joyous time of year, but now the atmosphere is different in the strip. In spite of the ceasefire, many are struggling with a lack of access to food and clean water, as not enough humanitarian aid is entering.
AL Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut joins live from Jordan's capital, Amman. She's there because the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority have banned Al Jazeera from reporting from inside Israel and the occupied West Bank.
