The plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, one of the most modern passenger aircrafts in service.
It's the model's first fatal crash.
The US corporation has released a short statement on the crash of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
“We are in contact with Air India regarding Flight 171 and stand ready to support them. Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, first responders and all affected,” Boeing said.
