Reb Shaya ben Reb Moishe, zatzal
We all know the name.
Why?
Chazal tell us that Tzadikim are Shluchim from Hashem. Their mission in this world is to bring awareness to the people of God’s behavior in this world, helping them reach higher heights and bringing them closer to the ways of Torah.
The Gemara in Maseches Shabbos quotes that Hashem saw that the amount of Tzadikim was scarce, so He took them and sprinkled them throughout all of the generations. Each generation is granted Tzadikim according to the mission of how the world needs to shape itself, to bring it to a better place.
Therefore now, as we are inching closer to redemption, we see a huge awareness of Chessed, loving-kindness. As Chazal say, בך חות*, with the trait of Chessed, the lifestyle of our forefather Avrohom, the world will be completed and brought to redemption.
The light of Reb Shayala, zatzal, is bringing us tremendous light and inspiration to do more Chessed, the trait we value so much. We are infusing it into the world, some by feeding others, some helping financially, spiritually, or physically, and some by spreading awareness of embracing Chessed through song and action
