A bear entered the runway area of Yamagata airport, forcing a temporary shutdown and flight cancellations.

The animal was found at the site at about 7am local time, then disappeared before returning, leading to the runway's closure from 11.55am. Ten flights connecting the airport in Yamagata prefecture to Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo and Nagoya were cancelled as a result of the unexpected visitor
